How Much Do Movers Cost in Dubai? A 2026 Price Guide

There is no flat rate for moving in Dubai, and any mover who gives you one before seeing your home is guessing. What you can know in advance is the typical range for a home like yours, what pushes the price up or down, and the extra costs that are not in the mover’s quote at all.

Typical moving costs in Dubai

These are the ranges published by UAE property and moving guides for local moves within Dubai in 2025 and 2026, with a standard service of loading, transport and unloading. Treat them as a starting point, not a quote.

Home sizeTypical range (AED)Usual duration
Studio or 1-bedroom apartment1,000 – 2,000Half a day
2-bedroom apartment2,000 – 3,500One day
3-bedroom apartment or small villa3,500 – 6,000One long day
4-bedroom villa and larger6,000 and aboveOne to two days

Moves between emirates cost more because of the drive. Published guides put a Dubai to Abu Dhabi apartment move at roughly AED 1,800 to 4,500 and a villa at AED 3,500 to 8,000, depending on size and services.

Why the ranges are so wide: two 2-bedroom flats can hold very different amounts of furniture, and one may have a service lift at the door while the other has a long carry and stairs. The survey is what turns a range into a price.

What actually changes the price

1. How much you own

Volume decides the size of the truck and the crew. A lightly furnished 2-bedroom and a full family 2-bedroom are different jobs, which is why a proper quote starts with a survey rather than the number of bedrooms.

2. Lift and access at both ends

A working service lift and a truck parked close to it is the cheapest possible move. Passenger-lift-only buildings, stair carries, long corridors and short lift windows all need more crew or more hours. In tower-heavy areas like Dubai Marina and JLT, the lift window often matters more than the distance.

3. Packing

Packing everything yourself is the cheapest option. Full packing by the crew costs the most, and partial packing (just glassware, art, TVs and other fragile items) sits in between. See what is included in our packing services.

4. Dismantling and reassembly

Beds, wardrobes, wall units and office workstations need a carpenter at both ends. It adds time, but it is also where most damage happens when it is rushed. More on this in furniture moving and assembly.

5. Timing

Month-end weekends and the summer school break are the busiest periods, and quotes tend to be higher then. Mid-month, mid-week moves are usually easier to book and easier on the budget.

6. Distance

Within Dubai, distance matters less than access. Between emirates it matters a lot, because the crew and truck are tied up for the drive. Moves to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah should be quoted with travel included, not added on the day.

7. Storage and special items

Storage between handover dates, pianos, safes, large artwork or marble tables all add to the job and should be listed in the written quote.

Costs that are not in the mover’s quote

  • Building move permits: some buildings charge a fee and hold a refundable deposit against lift and corridor damage. Ask building management at both ends.
  • DEWA: a refundable security deposit for a new account (currently AED 2,000 for an apartment, AED 4,000 for a villa) plus activation charges. See our DEWA guide.
  • Move-out cleaning and painting, if your tenancy contract requires it.
  • Internet setup at the new address.
  • Handyman work for curtains, lights and TV mounting, if your mover does not include it.

Red flags in a moving quote

  • A price given over WhatsApp without any survey.
  • An open-ended hourly rate with no estimate of hours.
  • No written inventory or list of what is included.
  • Packing materials, dismantling or stairs listed as “extra, to be confirmed on the day”.
  • Cash only, with no invoice.

The classic problem is a very low quote that grows once your furniture is already on the truck. A written price agreed after a survey is the protection against it.

How to get an accurate quote

  1. Book a survey, on site or by video, and show every room, balcony and storage cupboard.
  2. Tell the mover the floor, the lift situation and where the truck can park at both addresses.
  3. Say what you want packed, what needs dismantling, and anything unusual.
  4. Ask for one written price that includes all of it.

How we price a move

At Elite Movers UAE we survey first and then send one written price that covers the crew, truck, packing you have chosen, dismantling, reassembly and travel. That is the figure you pay on the day. If you are comparing quotes, ask every mover for the same thing, so you are comparing like with like. You can see everything we offer on our moving services page, or start with home moving and apartment moving.

Common questions

How much does it cost to move a 1-bedroom apartment in Dubai?

Published market ranges put it at around AED 1,000 to 2,000 for a local move with a standard service. Access, packing and timing move it within that range.

Is it cheaper to move mid-week?

Usually, yes. Month-end weekends and the summer holidays are peak periods, while mid-month weekdays are easier to book.

Do movers charge extra for stairs?

Many do, because stair carries need more crew and more time. A good quote includes it up front instead of adding it on the day.
